FANR Hosts Knowledge Day

May 16, 2018
The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) organized the first knowledge management event entitled ‘Knowledge Day’, to highlight the importance of knowledge management and its best practices in the organization nationally and internationally.

The event included a number of sessions: Dubai Police presented an informative session where Dr. Ibrahim Seba, a researcher, presented its integrated knowledge management programme. It also included another presentation by Eduard Volkov, Director of Science Research Centre in Russia where he talked about how knowledge management can help improve safety culture and support nuclear safety. In addition, Turky Al Mesmari, FANR’s Knowledge Management Manager, presented the authority’s knowledge management approach and programmes to ensure building national capacity and contributing to the sustainability of the nuclear sector.

FANR places great importance on knowledge management in the nuclear sector as it is a new industry in the UAE. It requires developing national expertise in the field and gaining international knowledge in such a technical industry and making sure information is maintained in a systematic manner to ensure the sustainability of the nuclear programme.
The event also included a ‘Knowledge Café’, an engaging workshop where staff gathered to present ideas and suggestions on means to improve FANR’s knowledge management to support the authority’s long-term corporate strategy as the UAE’s nuclear regulator.
