FANR hosts an IAEA Expert Mission on Health Surveillance for Occupationally Exposed Workers in the UAE

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) hosted an expert mission led by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to discuss surveillance arrangements of radiation doses of occupationally exposed workers in the UAE.

 

The purpose of the Expert Mission is assessing the existing health surveillance infrastructure in the UAE by analyzing the good practices and evaluating the gaps, as well as providing a platform for discussing the legal frameworks and requirements on health surveillance in the UAE and Europe.

 

The three-day Expert mission focused on topics that included roles of approved medical practitioners, workers’ medical checks and monitoring plans. 

 

The meeting was attended by representatives from national entities which included Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Dubai Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center, Department of Health, SEHA and Ministry of Health and Prevention.
