Aug 15, 2018

As the United Arab Emirates is preparing to mark the Emirati Women Day on 28th August, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) hosted a talk delivered by Dr. Aisha Bilkhair, Research Adviser at the National Archives on the history of the country and role of women.
Underscoring the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s statement on empowering Emirati Women “The woman is half of the society, any country which pursues development should not leave her in poverty or illiteracy. I am on the woman’s side”. Dr. Bilkhair illustrated the civilization  of the UAE for thousands of years where women have been playing crucial role in the community by not only raising families, but building the society.  Today, thanks to UAE leadership support of women empowerment, Emirati women are holding many essential positions in politics, economy, community...etc.
FANR is following the lead of the UAE Government by empowering its female staff. It currently hires over 230 employees from over 30 nationalities. Women constitutes 40% of  its total workforce. It has a number of female Emiratis who are first pioneers in the nuclear industry working in nuclear safety, nuclear security and its radiation protection teams. They, also, hold senior positions in its Operations Division.
