PREPARING FOR A STRONG FUTURE

FANR conducted a virtual, preparatory strategic retreat entitled ‘Together, Re-imagine FANR’ to review the impact of FANR’s 2017-2021 strategy in regulating the nuclear industry in the UAE, and to develop FANR’s 2022-2026 strategy. The latter included a detailed assessment of the external political, economic, social, technological, legal and/ or environmental factors affecting FANR’s mission and mandate; an analysis of the opportunities and challenges; and a collective proposal of solutions to strengthen FANR’s ability to achieve its vision of being recognised as a leading nuclear regulator.

The FANR retreat supported the UAE government’s project, ‘Designing the Next 50’ launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to shape the future and to ensure the UAE’s sustainability.

The retreat featured in-depth discussions on the next 50 years and FANR’s strategic planning in line with the UAE government’s future priorities. Time was also dedicated to discussions on potential future trends in innovation and the associated evolution of opportunities for the nuclear industry.

The outcome from the retreat has provided a blueprint for FANR’s sustained performance for the foreseeable and longer-term future.
